Goodbye, Silverlight.

 The launch of FSS 6 and what to expect in the next few months

By now, you are all aware that FSS will be moving away from Microsoft’s Silverlight. As of October 12th, all customers will be switched over to the new FSS 6.

With all the change that is happening, we wanted to make sure you are staying informed and are prepared for the move. We put together a few bullet points that you should keep in mind going forward to help make your transition easier.

Server Upgrade

The Customer Care Team will reach out to the customers before the server is upgraded to the new version. Before we make any changes to the server, we will notify you ahead of time of the day and time we plan on upgrading, so you have time to coordinate. We will provide more information in the next few weeks.

Training and Support will be provided

Our Customer Care Team will provide all training and support during this transition. Be on the lookout for emails and materials from them that can help you through the process. During the transition process, we will be reaching out to set up calls to help train you on the new platform and answer any questions. Weekly calls will be scheduled to make you feel comfortable and all your questions and needs are met.

The date is an important one to remember. Here is some information that you might helpful during the transition.

Silverlight Standalone Installer

Microsoft has emphasized that it is not planning any move to completely remove Silverlight applications, but it is important to note that software running on this framework will not get any security or feature updates. In case you still need access FSS 5, this article shows how a user could enable IE mode in Edge (Chromium) which would still allow for Silverlight to work
